CITH Adult Education
We offer opportunities for members and friends of Church in the Hills to deepen their faith and commitment by participating in Christian studies.

This is one of the very last things Jesus said to his disciples before ascending into heaven, so it must have been important. This can be a scary commission, especially since we first need to be His disciple. How can we become a better disciple of Lord Jesus? Why should we bother? In fact, how can I get to know God, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit better? These are some of the questions with which we all struggle and strive to answer within our Adult Education classes, strive to answer.

Weekly Bible Study
We gather at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday mornings to discuss the previous Sunday’s sermon and study the scriptures for the coming Sunday.

Men’s Rap Group
On Thursday at 9:00am you will find men gathering for coffee, treats and open dialogue. Discussions range from Bible study to current events.

The Journey Series
Although we’re a relatively modest-sized church, we tap into some very big resources to help in this Journey. One of the major initiatives has been the development of a 3-part series: the titles are:

• Basics for the Journey – covering the essential elements of our faith including what is the Bible (how it came to be, the Old & New Testament, studying it), who is God, who is Jesus, what is the church, who is humanity, how we are saved, where is authority, and what are the sacraments.
• Heart for the Journey – focus on how we can love Jesus better through prayer (supplemented by “How to Pray” video series by Pete Greig) and studying His life (based on Philip Yancey’s “The Jesus I Never Knew” video series)
• Fruit for the Journey – turning the basics and our love for Jesus into greater discipleship by examining how the Gospel impacts our everyday life through studying the Book of James (supplemented by Francis Chan’s 8-part video), 8 Marks of a Disciple and Rick Warren’s “The Purpose Driven Life”.

The classes have been meeting on Thursdays 3:30 – 5:00 p.m. and we will be restarting the series again in Fall, 2024. There are no prerequisites to join us, and the sessions are available for on-line participation; they are also recorded for later review.
