Pastor

Pastor David and his wife Terrie were called to Church in the Hills in January of 2012. David grew up in Ashland, Ohio and graduated from Ashland University in 1993 with a major in religion and philosophy. David received his Master of Divinity at Princeton Theological Seminary in 1996 and was ordained and called to The Presbyterian Church of Traverse City, Michigan, where he served as Associate for Youth and Families for over fifteen years.

If David’s not working on a project in his wood shop you may find him playing and learning new guitar riffs or on the boat enjoying Torch Lake. He also enjoys working with Freedom Builders (out of Traverse City) on local mission projects.

David and his wife Terrie were married in 1984. They have two daughters and one grandchild. Mallory and her daughter Darla live in Traverse City, where Mallory gives voice and piano lessons and also performs, not only as a solo act, but also as part of a duet and with a popular local band. The Ramages’ daughter Hannah and her husband Ben live in Duluth, MN. She is employed by Lake Superior National Estuarine Research Reserve.

John Dickinson

Music Director

John Dickinson, CITH Director of Music, began private piano lessons at age six and continued classical instruction for twelve years. While in high school, he developed an interest in accompanying vocalists, instrumentalists, and choirs, a passion that exists to this day. For over 40 years, John has served as accompanist, rehearsal pianist, vocal director, and/or orchestra conductor for close to 100 community theatre productions, primarily with three large Detroit – area organizations, often teaming up with his wife, Bev, a talented theatrical director and performer (and member of the CITH choir). John also was a member of the Lansing First Presbyterian Chancel Choir and served for two years as the organist/choir director for First United Methodist Church in Oak Park, MI.

Becky Watrous

Office Manager

Becky started with Church in the Hills in August 2025. She was born and raised in Bellaire and graduated from Michigan State University.  Becky came to us with an extensive background in office management. She enjoys her role at CITH and looks forward to continuing to serve both the church as well as its members and friends of the church.

Office hours are Tuesday through Thursday,
9 am until 1 pm.
