Who We Are

What We Believe

What is the Presbyterian Church?

The word presbyteros occurs about sixty times in the Greek New Testament. It means an elder. Literally speaking, a Presbyterian church is a church governed by Elders. However, in the early church, the type of government varied from place to place, so it is impossible to claim that any present form of church government is in complete harmony with the Scriptures.

Our Calling

As the body of Christ, we are called to be active in the ministry of the church, including:

  • Studying Scripture and the faith of the Christian church
  • Proclaiming the Good News
  • Praying
  • Loving and supporting each other
  • Supporting the work of the church by sharing our time, talents, and money
  • Responding to God’s work in the world through service to others
  • Participating in the governing responsibilities of the church
  • Living as Christ would have us live in our personal, family, work, social, political, and cultural relationships
